North and Gatwick Side

The villages of Horley, Charlwood, Hookwood, Smallfield and Burstow are on the north side of Crawley near Gatwick Airport. This type of travel is based around traveling to and from airports Gatwick terminal transfers, hotel pickups near the airport and transfers to and from destinations such as Crawley and beyond. Gatwick transfers are particularly popular from Horley, which's directly next to the airport.

East of Crawley

To the east are Copthorne, Crawley Down, Turners Hill, Felbridge and East Grinstead. The best rail links from this side are from Three Bridges station and East Grinstead station. The main travel requirements in this area are Gatwick airport transfers and travel to and from the Crawley town centre. The larger town of East Grinstead has its special needs and is not covered in the brief card but in its own page.

South of Crawley

To the south are a number of villages: Pease Pottage, Handcross, Slaugham, Staplefield, Warninglid and Balcombe along or close to the A23 and M23. The natural destinations for most from this group will be Crawley and Gatwick since that is where they can get to the road network. Rail links towards Three Bridges and towards Crawley than towards London from these villages.

West of Crawley

Rusper, Faygate, Colgate and Horsham are to the west. The main destinations here are also the same as above – Crawley and Gatwick – with Horsham being a larger town that deserves to be treated in its own right rather than as a short village card.

When booking from a village what to include

Village and small-town addresses are more critical than those in areas. The full address and postcode are essential not optional: House names, not numbers, lanes, not roads and postcodes that cover an area. Add a landmark or entrance note that will pinpoint the collection point. If you are travelling to or from the airport from the surrounding villages include the terminal, flight number, airport arrival time and full luggage information. Use trains for journeys including the train time and arrange a meeting before the trip.
